Man charged with murder in July 5 stabbing death on North Horsman Street

Melvin Perkins, 30, of Rockford, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the July 5 stabbing death of 21-year-old Sandra Golden.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m., Thursday, July 5, Rockford Police officers responded to 510 N. Horsman St. in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located Golden, who had been stabbed multiple times by the suspect. Golden was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She later died as a result of her injuries.
