Online Staff Report
Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford (R) will be at Rockford Public Library from 1:30 to 2 p.m., Friday, July 13, to unveil a new name for the state’s Cash Dash program. The library is at 215 N. Wyman St.
Rutherford will hold a press conference about the name change and will also announce an update to the public database, which means more money back in thousands of Illinois residents’ pocketbooks.
Cash Dash, as part of the Illinois State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division, connects state residents with their unclaimed property. The program was established in 1999 with the goal of helping Illinois residents through the process of reclaiming money or assets.
One in eight Illinois residents has an asset to be claimed. The state has $1.5 billion in cash, plus contents from Illinois safe deposit boxes, which need to be returned to Illinois residents.
