18-year-old charged with three counts of burglary to motor vehicle

Diquan Bryant, 18, of Rockford, has been charged with three counts of burglary to a motor vehicle in relation to a series of motor vehicle burglaries on Rockford’s west side.

At 4:53 a.m., Thursday, July 12, Rockford police responded to 2014 Elm St. in regard to a subject dressed in all-black clothing breaking into a vehicle parked at the address.

Officers canvassed the area and located an individual dressed in all-black clothing wearing gloves with his pockets bulging with miscellaneous items including a portable GPS unit. Officers turned the GPS unit on, hit the home button and were able to locate the owner, who advised it had been stolen from their vehicle.

The individual was questioned by officers and admitted to breaking into several vehicles in the area. Through this investigation, the officers were able to locate three victims who had their vehicles broken into.
