Two men arrested for July 17 burglary of Pomps Tire in Machesney Park

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. — At approximately 11:57 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police patrol deputies were sent to Pomps Tire, 7745 Burden Road, Machesney Park, Ill., in regard to a burglar alarm.
Deputies arrived in the area quickly and observed a van leaving the area, occupied by two males.
The van was stopped and the occupants identified as Michael Smallwood, 33, and Dustin J. Milvert, 17. Both men live in Machesney Park.
Investigation at Pomps Tire revealed entry had been gained by cutting through a garage door with tools.
Further investigation by sheriff’s deputies and detectives linked the men to the burglary at Pomps Tire, and they were both subsequently charged with burglary and are being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
Numerous burglaries of similar nature have also been reported to the Rockford Police Department and the Loves Park Police Department, and detectives from both agencies are working with sheriff’s detectives on follow-up.
