Police in search of suspect in early-morning shooting on Collins Street

Rockford police are in search of a white man in his 20s who was wearing a white bandana and black T-shirt and is suspected of shooting a 26-year-old man in the face at around 1:19 a.m., Thursday, July 19. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury above his left eye.
Police received reports of shots fired around 1:19 a.m., July 19, and found the victim in the 2800 block of Collins Street.
The victim told police he was walking down the street when a black Chevy Tahoe or Suburban approached him from the side. He said a passenger exited the vehicle and opened fire. The passenger and a Hispanic male driver then fled south from the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
