South Main closed from Morgan to Chestnut July 19-20 for Tapco building demolition

South Main Street (Illinois Route 2) will be temporarily closed to through traffic from Morgan Street to Chestnut Street, and Cedar Street will be closed east of South Church Street, from Thursday, July 19, to the end of the work day Friday, July 20.

The closures are the result of the demolition of the Tapco building and may last longer than expected, depending on weather.

This temporary road closure will be re-opened at the end of each work day.

A detour is set up and traffic control is in place. The detour is as follows:

• North bound on Illinois Route 2 will detour west on Morgan Street, north on South Winnebago Street, east on Chestnut Street and back to Illinois Route 2 (South Main Street).

• South bound on Illinois Route 2 will detour north on Cedar Street, south on South Winnebago Street, east on Morgan Street and back to Illinois Route 2 (South Main Street).
