• Rockford boys’ choir’s ‘God Bless America’ brings tears

Staff Report

Kantorei, The Singing Boys of Rockford, won two silver medals in the categories of Jazz and Mixed Boys’ Choirs at the World Choir Games in Cincinnati July 7. They were the top U.S. choir in this category and placed fourth in the world.

Head Chaperone Dr. Farion Williams said: “The boys sang ‘God Bless America’ for the Capital University Choir. I really love those high treble notes the younger boys sing. It is truly beautiful. One of the Capital Choir members had tears running down her face, she was so moved.”

Celebrating their 48th anniversary, Kantorei offers boys and young men ages 7 to 18 a musical education while providing opportunities for personal growth.

The choir has delighted audiences locally, nationally and throughout the world in prestigious choral festivals and concert tours of Europe, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and Brazil.

Kantorei has released six compact disc recordings showcasing the boys’ talents in a diverse repertoire. The choir recruits new members on an ongoing basis, and financial assistance is available.
