Rockford Mass Transit District hosts 7th annual golf fund-raiser
Online Staff Report
The Rockford Mass Transit District is hosting its seventh annual fund-raiser, a golf play day, Friday, Aug. 3. The RMTD Driving the Dream Golf Classic is a best ball scramble format sponsored by Go Self Insured, Inc., Williams McCarthy, Budget Truck and Auto, larson and Darby Group, DiBenedetto and Associates Ltd., The Boyd Consulting Group, Paradigm Risk Management, Inc., Hinshaw and Culbertson LLP, and Cumulus Broadcasting, and will be held at Timber Pointe Golf Course with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
Some of the day’s activities include 18 holes of golf, after-golf buffet and a chance to win $10,000, sponsored by Alpha Controls, Gillig Corporation and Scott’s RV. Foursomes are being accepted, and the deadline for entry is Monday, July 30, 2012. The fee for all of the above activities is only $100.
The golf play day on Aug. 3 represents the District’s ongoing attempts to aggressively pursue operating funds beyond its traditional funding stream of farebox revenues and federal, state and local subsidies. Last year, Rockford Mass Transit District raised more than $9,000 from this event. The dollars raised at this fund-raiser are used to grow the RMTD Community Transportation Endowment Fund, which supports the projects, programs and posterity of public transportation in our community. This year’s goal is to net more than $10,000 for the endowment fund.
In addition to showing their support for public transportation, attendees of the Driving the Dream Golf Classic also have the opportunity to network with other business and governmental leaders. Those wishing to put their golfing skills to the test will have not one but four opportunities to win big money and prizes, and one lucky foursome will walk away with the now much-coveted first-place golf cart trophy. Attendees will also have an opportunity to bid on state-of-the-art golf items from BHMgolf.com, including a set of Mizuno irons and a complete Callaway golf set including bag. Golfers will also receive a thank-you gift for attending. To register yourself and/or your foursome, call or e-mail Lisa Brown at (815) 961-2226 or lbrown@rmdt.org now! Don’t miss out on the fun!
