SwedishAmerican history book earns national award
It Began with a Dollar, the 200-page history book that was published in connection with SwedishAmerican Health System’s 100th anniversary, has received a Silver Aster Award in the 2012 Publication/External-Single category.
The Aster Awards, one of the largest national competitions of its kind, is hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today magazine and Creative Images, Inc. This elite program recognizes outstanding health care professionals for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts for the calendar year 2011.
Written by Paul Greenland, SwedishAmerican’s manager of marketing and public information, the book is organized into eight chapters that chronicle the organization’s first 100 years. The book was designed by SwedishAmerican Graphic Designer Kristen Mattingly, and was published in June 2011.
Nationwide, 187 health care systems were honored in the competition. Among those, three were from Illinois. SwedishAmerican was the only Rockford-area health care system to be honored.
SwedishAmerican is a not-for-profit, locally-governed health care system, with headquarters in Rockford. The health system is composed of two hospitals, 30 clinics, a home health care agency, a foundation, and has an exclusive affiliation with UW Health in northern Illinois.
