Rockford man charged with residential burglary, burglary to vehicle, resisting police

Michael E. Simpson, 21, of Rockford, has been charged with residential burglary, two counts of burglary to a vehicle and resisting police.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 3, Rockford police responded to 3307 California Road in regard to an individual breaking into the garage of a residence.
The responding officers located the suspect who was described by the witness and discovered this individual to be in possession of several items, including portable GPS units.
Upon further investigation, the officers located several vehicles in the neighboring area that had been broken into.
A follow-up investigation was conducted by detectives, and the charges were made against Simpson.
