We already have some facilities for really large events. We do lack a multipurpose venue for smaller events though. I can tell you from personal experience there are groups that would like to hold events downtown, but can't because of the lack of an appropriate venue. I find it odd that some residents oppose the RPL managing the Sullivan Center because of a reported lack of management success. All the while not raising a fuss over the Winnebago Landfill expansion while concerns remain regarding its management of air, land and water problems surrounding the facility. If so, he will know that it is nowhere near the size of the Belvidere Community Building and, therefore, could never offer the scope of services as Belvidere does. He also seems to be a bit behind the curve ~ or conservative ~ in what libraries have already become. Has Mr. Autry actually been in the Sullivan Center?
