Soccer: Rock Run Soccer Club’s golf play day fund-raiser Aug. 10

Staff Report

The Rock Run Soccer Club’s Fifth Annual golf play day fund-raiser begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, at Aldeen Golf Club, 1902 Reid Farm Road, Rockford. The outing features a scramble format.

The Rock Run Soccer Club is the area’s second-oldest club soccer program. For nearly 30 years, the club has provided a quality club soccer experience to area youth.

As a not-for-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, the goals of the Rock Run Soccer Club are the development of youth soccer players to play at their highest level in an affordable club soccer experience through commitment, competition, character, sportsmanship, teamwork and a love of the game.

The cost of the golf outing is $125 per golfer and includes golf, cart, lunch and dinner. Business sponsorships are also available. Proceeds from the event in part help to fund the club’s college scholarship and financial aid funds.

In the last four years, proceeds from the golf play day have allowed the club to award $4,000 in college scholarships and nearly $25,000 in club financial aid.

Registration forms, sponsorship and other information can be found at the club’s website at For additional information, contact Sam Castree at (815) 222-6128.
