Congratulations to the “yes” voters for the landfill expansion. Now billboards at I-39 and Baxter Road should be erected with the smiling faces of those responsible, welcoming visitors to northern Illinois’ largest landfill. Maybe tours of the landfill for added income could also be offered to show what the leaders of this community have accomplished. Of course, the industrial area planned is in all probability now a pipe dream. Locate near a landfill, as they say on Facebook (LOL). I don’t see any bragging rights here until adoption of recycling efforts that would employ a few hundred and keep the landfill cleaner. Let them also plant wildflowers and other plants that would absorb sound and odor, adding color to an unattractive area. As to the Secretary of State not concerned about locating by a landfill — that is a service, not a business that would create jobs.
