Legendary Nighthawks at Rockford’s Adriatic Aug. 19

Crossroads Blues Society
The legendary Nighthawks will be gracing the stage at the Adriatic Live Music Bar at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 19. Admission is only $10, and it should be a great event.
Founding member Mark Wenner still fronts the band, singing and playing harp. He sounds as fresh as he did four decades ago when he, Jimmy Thackery, Pete Ragusa and Jan Zukowski formed the band.
Today’s lineup with Johnny Castle on bass and vocals, Paul Bell on guitar and Mark Stutso on drums and vocals offers up a fantastic and superb sounding band that can burn a venue up as the original band did!
Their last CD, Last Train To Bluesville, was an acoustic project based on some live shows they did acoustically. Bill Wax at Sirius/XM Bluesville had them on the air and playing live, and they laid down a dozen tracks over two hours. The songs were released, and folks must have liked them, as they won the 2011 BMA for Best Acoustic Album! Their brand-new CD, Damn Good Time, was produced by David Earl and is on Severn Records; it has gotten rave reviews and offers the listener the full-up sound of this marvelous and legendary band.
Don’t miss this show — we will kick off the week leading up to the Third Annual Byron Crossroads Blues Festival. Anyone needing advanced tickets for this event can pick them up at this show. Call (779) 537-4006 for information.
The Adriatic is at 327 W. Jefferson St., downtown Rockford.
