OREGON, Ill. — So, you’re interested in raising chickens? Raising chickens can be both simple and “green.” More people are making an effort to eat food that is locally sourced. Chickens are the easiest, most forgiving creatures for a small farm to manage.

Join specialists from the University of Illinois, Dr. Ken Koelkebeck and Pam Utterback, at the Ogle County Extension Office from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29, to hear information about breeds, raising, nutrition, diseases and marketing of chickens.

Cost for the programs is $12 per person or $20 for two from the same homestead. Children younger than 18 are $5.
