John Devereueawax book signing and community fellowship event Sept. 8

John L. Devereueawax, III will appear at a book release and signing and community fellowship event from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at McIntosh Elementary School, 525 N. Pierpont Ave. in Rockford. This day has been declared John L. Devereueawax, III Day in Rockford.

Devereueawax was a rising star on the Rockford political scene until a massive, paralyzing stroke in 1993 changed his life in a matter of mere seconds. A highly-regarded community leader, his story of faith, perseverance and the courage to live has been long awaited. With the aid of his cancer-survivor daughter, author and inspirational speaker, Domonique Simone, the community of Rockford and readers will be inspired and uplifted by this thought-changing account of one man’s 19-year journey to faith.

Devereueawax will give a testimony on his personal work and struggles at the John Devereueawax Playground at McIntosh School Gymnasium. His book, Willpower, co-authored with his daughter, will be available for purchase. His souvenir book, Celebration of CommunityBuilding and Unity, will be given to attendees.
