Mendelssohn begins ‘Music on Main’ concert series Sept. 10
The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center will kick off its 2012-2013 “Music on Main” concert series with the Mike Williamson Trio at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at the historic Emerson House, 420 N. Main St., Rockford.
Concertgoers can kick back and enjoy the music, relax with a glass of wine and light refreshments, and meet the performers after the program, which is about an hour in length.
Jazz vocalist Mike Williamson has gained a loyal regional following over the past 30 years with his smooth rendition of hits by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow and many more. For this performance, Williamson will perform with pianist Bob Rub and percussionist Bob DeVita.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Proceeds will benefit the musicians and the “Music on Main” series.
“Music on Main” is the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center’s series of brief and intimate after-work concerts with local and regional musicians in a variety of musical genres, held at the Emerson House in the heart of downtown Rockford. Performances take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month, September to November and January to May. Doors open at 5 p.m. Seating is limited.
