Winnebago County Republicans move headquarters to North Court Street

Recognizing both the increase in participation over the past several years, as well as the excitement surrounding the 2012 election cycle, the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee voted to move its headquarters this past month.
The new headquarters will be at Suite 104, 515 N. Court St., Rockford. For mailing purposes, the post office box address used in prior years will continue to be used (P.O. Box 7543, Rockford, IL 61126).
The building, which formerly housed the Rockford Chamber of Commerce and Council of 100, has a number of tenants and boasts a meeting room that seats more than 100. Its off-street parking and proximity to the government centers of the county (state and federal courthouses and agencies) provide ease of access for volunteers and elected officials. Its location across the street from a park also opens the possibility of summer events hosted near the headquarters.
“While our past location worked well for us for many years, the frequent increase in turnout at our meetings created the need to investigate other locations,” said Chairman Jim Thompson.
Thompson also noted that the building is staffed by a receptionist during normal business hours who is able to accept materials dropped off (or messages), which will be useful in the coming months.
“As our headquarters is not open 9 to 5 every weekday, this expands our access to the community,” Thompson noted.
An open house at the new location will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6. All area Republican candidates are invited to attend, as well as precinct committeemen and others who support the Republican Party. Light refreshments will be available — as will yard signs for various Republican candidates.
