Commercial building on West Rockton Avenue a total loss after fire

A commercial building at 1808 W. Rockton Ave., near West Middle School, is a total loss after an early-morning fire.

Rockford firefighters were called to the scene at 2:23 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

According to a press release from the Rockford Fire Department: “The structure was built around another structure, so there were several void spaces which made it more difficult to get to the fire. We did bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes; however, the building was a total loss. There were no injuries reported.”

Total damage is estimated at $75,000.
