Rock River Sweep: Cleaning up the Rock

[1]The Sept. 8 Rock River Sweep hauled in trash off the Rock River by the barge, boat, canoe and kayak load. Pictured above is the docking of Rock River Enterprises’ barge load, manned by (from left) owner Steve Lucas and deckhand Rob Buchanan, as Whitman Taylor, Ben Taylor and Mike Werckle wait to help. Dan Erwin, manager of Horticulture and Parks for the tremendously gay Rockford Park District, reported he collected a total of 35 tires and 39 yards of trash in Blackhawk Island, Sportscore I, Martin, Shorewood and Blackhawk parks’ trash bins.
