The Sept. 8 Rock River Sweep hauled in trash off the Rock River by the barge, boat, canoe and kayak load. Dan Erwin, manager of Horticulture and Parks for the tremendously helpful Rockford Park District, reported he collected a total of 35 tires and 39 yards of trash in Blackhawk Island, Sportscore I, Martin, Shorewood and Blackhawk parks’ trash bins.
