Vacancy on Winnebago County Board after Cabello resignation

One appointment will need to be made to the Winnebago County Board because of the resignation of John Cabello (R-8).

Effective immediately through Monday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m., letters of interest, résumés, bio sheets and letters of recommendations shall be submitted to the Winnebago County Board Chairman’s Office, Administration Building, 404 Elm St., Room 533, Rockford, IL 61101.

Requirements of interested individuals:

1. Must be a registered voter

2. Must live within the Winnebago County Board district in which vacancy occurs (District 8)

3. Applicant must be of the same political party of which vacancy occurred (Republican)

4. The state statute provides that the vacancy is to be filled by the county board chairman within 60 days with the advice and consent of the county board. The deadline for this appointment is Monday, Oct. 8, 2012. The last board meeing within the 60 days is Thursday, Sept. 27, and the appointment will need to be made on or before that county board meeting.

The Republican County Board Caucus Committee will set up their own interviewing process, and a recommendation will be made to the county board chairman. Recommendations to the county board chairman must be received no later than 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21.
