Dear friends,

We hope your Septembers are off to a great start. We are missing our company, but looking forward to The Rocky Horror Picture Show coming up Oct. 27!

Today, we’re writing to ask you to take a moment and follow the link below to vote for Mount Carroll, Ill., as one of Budget Travel magazine’s “10 Coolest Small Towns of 2013.” You just click on the thumbs up button next to the town (it’s under the “M”s!). Visit,13/.

You can also leave comments about the town, and that’s where we really need your help! Leave a few words about Timber Lake Playhouse or any of the wonderful things that have brought a cultural resurgence to Mount Carroll in the last few years.

Did you know people come from all over the region to monthly open mic nights and art walks in the town? These have been wonderful ways for visual artists, musicians, writers and more to connect and share their work.

We’ve been particularly excited about the new restaurants and new owners of restaurants who’ve given our company and our audiences new options.

The Main Street Art Guild and independent artists throughout the downtown area have given the entire town an exciting air of creativity and a cooperative spirit. The Campbell Center still does great work in the field of historical preservation on the beautiful grounds of what once was Shimer College; and Raven’s Grin — the town’s very own year-round haunted house — is legendary with our company members every year.

Timber Lake Resort, right across the street from us, is a first-rate campground that also offers some fancy amenities for those of us who prefer a hot tub to a lake!

The town has also done a tremendous job of renovating several architecturally relevant buildings that feature Mesker Brothers Iron Works facades in the downtown area.

We’re excited about what’s happening in Mount Carroll, and we hope you’ll take a moment to support the town by voting for and sharing your comments on why you’re excited about Mount Carroll. And next time you’re in the area, check out something new!

Thanks, and enjoy these last few days of summer!
