As Rockford City Market’s popularity continues to grow locally, it is also getting recognition on a regional scale.
Chicago & Beyond ranked Rockford City Market as No. 7 on its list of top 10 things to do near Chicago this fall.
The chilly weather has moved in and is perfect for the market. Vendors are starting to offer more fall flavors and warm treats, as well as visitors’ favorites from throughout the season.
There are still four weeks left in the 2012 season for Rockford City Market. If you’re heading to Rockford City Market this Friday, Sept. 21, here’s what you can expect:
Harlan Jefferson — As a rapper/DJ turned saxophonist, Jefferson’s reputation came full circle in 2006 with the release of the single “The Chicago Bears Anthem.” The track was quickly picked up by DJs, who played it in the streets, in clubs, on the Internet, and on television stations and music and sports radio stations in Rockford, Chicago and Indiana.
Bring the whole family out to the market this weekend for activities for kids provided by Severson Dells.
Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from June 1 through Oct. 12 along Water Street between State and Jefferson streets in downtown Rockford. It runs from 3 to 8 p.m. before Labor Day and 3 to 7 p.m. after Labor Day.
The market includes local growers and vendors who sell natural products, including vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods, wine and healthy snacks, as well as artisans and vendors with unique offerings and live entertainment by a variety of performers.
