FREEPORT, Ill. — Saturday, Sept. 22, the Bain Worker Bus Tour will make its first stop in Freeport, Ill., to visit Bainport and pick up Sensata workers before making its way across the country.
In recent months, workers at Freeport’s Sensata Technologies plant — who are currently facing the outsourcing of their jobs to China by Bain — have called on former Bain CEO and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to intervene on their behalf.
As Romney continues to ignore Sensata workers’ plea for help, the workers will join fellow Bain workers in their effort to educate swing voters about Romney’s economic vision for the country, and take the campaign to save their jobs straight to Romney’s doorstep in Boston.
The tour, which will kick off with a rally in St. Louis Friday, will also make stops in Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida and at the presidential debate in Hempstead, NY. The trip will culminate in a day of action in Boston, where both Romney’s campaign and Bain Capital have their headquarters.
Along the way, Sensata workers will join rallies and other public events, as well as participate in meetings with voters, canvassing and other voter contact activities.
“We know firsthand what a Romney economy looks like,” said Tom Gaulrapp, a Sensata worker who is slated to join the bus tour. “Outsourcing good, American jobs, slashing wages and benefits, and devastating our communities. As we make this trip across the country, our message to voters will be clear: The Romney economy didn’t work for us, and it won’t work for you.”
The Bain Worker Bus Tour is being sponsored by the “99 percent” movement, a coalition of progressive organizations such as Stand Up Chicago, Progress Missouri, Wisconsin Jobs Now, Florida New Majority, SEIU and MoveOn that has been advocating for economic policies that benefit working Americans.

Over the past few months, Sensata workers have tried to contact Romney with a 35,000-signature petition, frequent protests outside the plant and trips to nearby campaign offices.
In July, the Freeport City Council unanimously passed a resolution calling on Romney to meet the workers and use his influence at Bain to intervene on their behalf. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn (D) echoed their call during a trip to Freeport later that month. The situation has even become an issue in the congressional race in Illinois’ 17th district.
Workers also took their campaign directly to Romney at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., Aug. 27-30.

I think these “poor” people are wasting their time. Romney says he is not concern about the poor and the 47% of people who are victims. It is could though that they can find the time to let other Americans know that Romney is not a good person as he is only concern about wealthy people. The truth is Romney has never experienced going to bed without supper while 47% of Americans have gone to bed without dinner, not even thinking about supper. So Romney can’t do better , he has never felt your pain.
Look at the pictures when Obama got married and when Romney got married. Both marriages were years apart but you can see that Romney event was something lavish and the shoes Obama kicked off need to be resoled and needed a new bottom. Now , the fact is he Obama got married to the person he loves regardless of how his shoes looked , but i am sure if he had a better pair at the time he would have worn it. He has been there , he feels our pain and that is why people can relate to him.If you have never experience something you just cant imagine it.
We need to get the good for nothing Republican congress out the way so that Obama can get on with the business of this great country.
Romney outsource jobs and shipped his money overseas , he is unpatriotic and it just goes to show if America crumbles his money is safe elsewhere.
Vote Obama 2012 and Hillary Clinton / Democrat 2016 .Flush the wicked Republicans out.
My comment is why would you vote republican in this election or any other election with s— like this happening! This show the level of greed and Mr. Romney is not qualified to be president based on this outrageous act of betrayal on the workers in Freeport Il. I say you get what you vote for so go ahead and vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket. Your job may be next and don’t forget about Ryan’s voucher program for medicare people not to mention his budget which he can’t even explain and it doesn’t add up anyway.
