Joining more than 190 stores across North America, frozen yogurt and smoothie chain Red Mango has opened its new location in The District adjacent to CherryVale Mall, 7160 Harrison Ave.

Franchise owner Paul Hornick has received an outpouring of support and a loyal following since the opening of his two other Red Mango stores in Rockford and Machesney Park. Hornick’s third location adjacent to the CherryVale Mall — by other popular retailers such as Barnes & Noble, Chico’s and Asha Salon — opened this past week.

“Opening a store outside of the mall will open the door for new people to conveniently experience Red Mango,” Hornick said. “Combining delicious taste with healthy ingredients, Red Mango is a product I believe in and can’t wait to share with more of our surrounding communities.”

Red Mango fans are excited about the new location and already asking Hornick if he will consider opening a fourth Red Mango location in downtown Rockford.

Since opening their first store at Perryville and Spring Creek roads in April 2011, nearly 5,000 people have “LIKED” their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/RedMangoRockford ^[1]).

Aug. 31, Red Mango was named one of the top three “Best Desserts” in the Rockford area in the 2012 Rockford Register Star People’s Choice Awards.

The love of Red Mango’s all-natural frozen yogurt, parfaits and chillers by the stateline community was obvious this spring when the Rockford location sold more gift cards than the other participating Red Mango stores across the nation during a national promotion. Rockford residents purchased more gift cards than locations in downtown Chicago and even New York City.

Red Mango has more than 50 flavors of frozen yogurt that are rotated on a regular basis, including Honey Badger, Peanut Butter, White Peach, Sonoma Strawberry and Dark Chocolate. Each yogurt serving is around 100 calories and packed with probiotics.

The CherryVale location can be reached at (815) 332-1406 and is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday-Thursday, and 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
