Rockford man charged in Sept. 11 one-vehicle crash that left one dead

Christopher Joe Hare, 27, of Rockford, has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide, two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs involving death and two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs involving great bodily harm after driving an SUV into a tree in the 400 block of North Sixth Street around 11:10 p.m., Sept. 11.
The incident left 24-year-old Chad B. Elder of Rockford dead.
The SUV Hare was driving caught fire after leaving the road and striking a tree. Hare was one of three adults inside the vehicle. The three, along with a passerby who tried to help them escape the vehicle, were transported to local medical facilities. Elder was the only fatality.
Hare is believed to have been under the influence of drugs when the incident occurred.

Its not fair for him to be incarerated for this. he has three kids he need to take care of how can he do that whens hes incarerated. christopher hare is my cousin whom i met when i was 18 after 13 years of never seeing or talking to him. he has lots of family who loves him and will miss him its not fair for this to happen i could undertsand if he was put in a rehab. but getting locked up would not be right.
