Artists’ Ensemble holds open auditions Oct. 6 for ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’

Rockford’s Artists’ Ensemble will hold open auditions for girls ages 8-14 to play the roles of Agnes and Tootie Smith in their production of Meet Me in St. Louis.
Auditions will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Dance Studio of the Clark Arts building at Rockford College.
Girls will be taken in groups and taught a short piece of a song to sing, and may be asked to read a short monologue. No preparation is needed for the audition.
This audition is for the roles of Agnes and Tootie Smith only. Agnes Smith is 12 years old and a bit of a tomboy. Tootie Smith is 6 years old and very outgoing.
Meet Me in St. Louis is a joint production of Artists’ Ensemble Theater and the Rockford College Performing Arts Department. The cast will include students in the Music Theater bachelor of fine arts program and professional actors from Artists’ Ensemble (AE). It will be directed by AE Artistic Director Richard Raether, with Rockford College music professor Timm Adams as music director.
Meet Me in St. Louis begins rehearsals March 26, 2013, with performances April 25-28, 2013.
Rehearsals are weekday evenings and weekend afternoons.
