‘Side by Side by Sondheim’ at Rockford College Oct. 4-7

The Rockford College Performing Arts Department presents Side by Side by Sondheim Oct. 4-7, in Maddox Theatre, Clark Arts Center, 5050 E. State St., Rockford. Show times are 7:30 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, and 2 p.m., Sunday.

This dazzling array of some of Sondheim’s best-known songs features numbers from landmark shows that revolutionized musical theater with their masterful craft and astounding creativity, including Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anyone Can Whistle and Pacific Overtures, not to mention the classics written with musical theater giants Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne and Richard Rodgers, including West Side Story, Gypsy and Do I Hear a Waltz?. Also included are delectable rarities from the television musical Evening Primrose, the film The Seven Percent Solution and the hit revue The Mad Show.
