City Market attendance up 45 percent, market survey asks for customer input
Online Staff Report
With two markets remaining, attendance at Rockford City Market is up 45 percent compared to this time last season. So far, 55,040 people have visited the market this year.
Customer input is important as the market continues to grow. Visitors are encouraged to take the online survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012RockfordCityMarket. After completing the survey, responders can print their confirmation page and use it as a coupon for 50 percent off one non-alcoholic beverage at any of the two remaining markets.
If you’re heading to Rockford City Market this Friday, Oct. 5, here’s what you can expect:
Music
Three Good Men — Rock the market with Three Good Men and their eclectic-acoustic versions of widely recognized songs from one of northern Illinois’ favorite bands, Men of Our Times. These Rockford-area musicians bring an informal, acoustic setting and are bound to play songs you wouldn’t expect, along with a bunch you’ll recognize.
Activities
Are you king or queen of the back yard? Do you and a bags partner claim to be the dynamic duo?
Test your skill this Friday, Oct. 5, at the City Market’s first-ever bags tournament. More about the tournament is available on the Facebook event page. Entries are $5 per person or $10 per team, and will be collected before the games begin. The tournament will start at 4:30 p.m. and will run until the end of the market at 7 p.m.
Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from June 1 through Oct. 12 along Water Street between State and Jefferson streets in downtown Rockford. It runs from 3 to 8 p.m. before Labor Day and 3 to 7 p.m. after Labor Day. The market includes local growers and vendors who sell natural products, including vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods, wine and healthy snacks, as well as artisans and vendors with unique offerings and live entertainment by a variety of performers. It is a collaborative effort of several agencies, including Rock River Development Partnership, River District Association, the City of Rockford and Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
