Auditions for ‘Annie Warbucks’ in Byron Oct. 14

BYRON, Ill. — Byron Civic Theatre (BCT) will hold auditions for its production of Annie Warbucks Sunday, Oct. 14, in the new Byron Middle School Theatre, 325 N. Colfax St., Byron, Ill.
Annie Warbucks is the sequel to Annie. Shows dates are Nov. 23-25, Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 1.
The curtain opens on the final scene from Annie. It is Christmas day 1933, and the orphans are celebrating at Daddy Warbucks’ mansion. Everything is perfect for Annie. She is now the daughter of Daddy Warbucks. But alas, the happiness doesn’t last for very long.
Girls wishing to audition as an orphan will audition at 5 p.m., Oct. 14. The theater will teach the audition song, so no need to prepare material. Orphans must be in second through eighth grade.
Girls wishing to audition for the role of Annie will audition at 5:45 p.m. Prepare 32 measures of music in the style of Annie. The girl playing Annie should be between the ages of 10 and 12 (or should appear to be that age). Auditionees will also be asked to read from the script.
Those auditioning for an adult role will begin auditions at 7 p.m. Four principal adult male roles include Daddy Warbucks, Franklin Roosevelt, Drake and Simon Whitehead. Four principal adult female roles include Grace Farrell, Mrs. Pugh, Commissioner Harriet Doyle and Mrs. Sheila Kelly, as well as many chorus roles.
Adults wishing to audition for a principal role should prepare a song in the style of Annie and be prepared to read from the script.
