Fall Clothing Drive at nine area locations Oct. 13
LOVES PARK, Ill. — Two sites have been added to Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful’s (KNIB) Fall Clothing Drive, set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13.
The new sites are Belvidere Township Building, 8200 Fairgrounds Road, Belvidere, and the Loves Park Logli Supermarket parking lot, 1810 Harlem Road, Loves Park.
In addition, there will be collection trucks at all area Hilander Food Stores, including the parking lot of the former store at North Main and Riverside, Rockford.
The addition of the two new locations brings the total number of drive-up/drop-off locations to nine, including Roscoe; CherryVale (Cherry Valley); and Rockford locations at Brynwood (Mulford Road), Rural Street, South Alpine and 11th Street.
“We are very excited to be able to expand convenient drop-off into Boone County, as well as the east side of Loves Park,” said Lori Gummow, executive director of KNIB. “We appreciate the donations residents make to keep used clothing and stuffed toys out of our landfills. And we are thankful for the time more than 120 volunteers donate to make the process as convenient as possible.”
Old or unused clothing should be in plastic bags weighing no more than 5 to 10 pounds. Boxes and hangers are not accepted. The items are redistributed in the United States or in a Third-World country. Bagged accessories, such as purses, linens, curtains, stuffed toys and soft-sided luggage, are also accepted. Any shoes need to be tied together.
