Get involved in Rockford’s Holiday Festival of Lights

It’s light up Sinnissippi Park time again!

The Holiday Festival of Lights is an event that has become a family tradition to attend. It began in 1989 with 11 displays and has grown to more than 40 displays.

You can get involved! Your partcipation, whether it is your business, church, school or club, can bring you instant recognition of your particular display by thousands of people who attend this drive-through event. This event will be highly advertised by radio and television partners, B103 FM and Channel 17 WTVO.

How much does it cost? There are several displays that can be remted and installed, or you can build and install your own display. Another opportunity to take advantage of is to be listed as “Santa’s Helper” in the brochure and website. The following choices are available:

1. Santa’s Helper Sponsor — $125.

2. Displayer participation (build and install your own) — $150 for business, social clubs, $100,and $25 for schools and churches.

3. Rental of display, which includes installation and tear down (depending on size), begins at $225 and goes up to $350.

Your involvement will also be recognized in Sinnissippi Park with a 2-foot-by-4-foot sign that will read, “Display Courtesy of your name.” If you have any questions, call. The Festival of Lights will be on display at Sinnissippi Park, 1401 N. Second St., with Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday viewing, from 5 to 10 p.m., Nov 29-Dec. 30. Nightly viewing seven days a week begins Dec. 20 and runs through Dec. 30; hours are 5 to 10 p.m. The display closes at 10 p.m., Dec. 30. There is no admission fee; donations are appreciated.

The Holiday Festival of Lights is presented by the Rockford Fourth of July Committee in conjunction with the Rockford Park District.
