Real Estate News: Boone County Habitat home dedication ceremony Oct. 20

• Woman and three children to move into home after more than  300 hours of ‘sweat equity’ work

Staff Report

BELVIDERE, Ill. — Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has made the dream of owning a beautiful home a reality. Habitat builds and sells homes to hard-working families who repay the nonprofit mortgage over a period of 30 years.

At 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, Habitat for Humanity Board members, volunteers, Belvidere Mayor Frederic C. Brereton, local dignitaries, and the excited partner family will gather at 909 N. Main St., Belvidere, Ill., to celebrate and dedicate the new home.

Hard work, generous donations of building materials and construction-related services, and community support made this home possible.

The new homeowner, Maria Gomez, and her three children, Ricardo Gomez, Daniel Gomez and Vanessa Hernandez, are very eager to move into their new home. Family members have completed more than 300 hours of “sweat equity” work while helping to build the home. This is a basic requirement set by Habitat for Humanity. They have worked alongside community members on every phase of construction to build their home.
