The whole family is invited to learn and play together at Discovery Center’s Fall Family Classes.
“Eye See You” takes place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21, and is designed to get the family ready for Halloween by examining eerie gross things. Get a look at gook as you dissect a real cow’s eye, exercise your optic nerve and investigate illusions that look like magic. Those with the stomach for it can even enjoy some “ectoplasmic hors d’oeuvers”!
Eye See You is suggested for ages 5 and older, and the first child per family (includes one eyeball to dissect) is $10 for members and $14 for the public. Each is additional child is $3 for members and $5 for the public. Additional adults are no charge.
Ring in the holidays with a Gingerbread House class from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25. The Discovery Center will supply the house, the tools, all the trimmings, and even clean up all the mess — you get the family fun and the finished masterpiece. Sampling is encouraged in this sweet art class sure to satisfy your inner elf.
This Gingerbread House class is suggested for ages 4 and older and the first child per family (includes one gingerbread house) is $16 for members and $20 for the public. Each additional child is $4 for members and $6 for the public. Additional adults are no charge. Additional gingerbread houses are available for $9 each.
Preregistration is required for both classes. To register, call (815) 963-6769 or drop by the Discovery Center Museum office during normal business hours. Payment must accompany registration. Registration closes 5 p.m., Monday, the week before class.
