Monthly discussions address nonprofit leadership, governance

Leadership Café with Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE) will host monthly discussions about critical and cutting-edge issues in nonprofit leadership and governance.
Cafés, which run from noon to 1 p.m., are designed to provide a menu of ideas, information, opinions and resources for nonprofit management staff, board members and interested community members.
RSVP is required five days prior to each café by calling (815) 394-4384 or e-mailing kream@rockford.edu.
Following is the schedule of topics for upcoming cafés:
Oct. 31 — How can you light the fund-raising fire under the board?
Nov. 28 — How do you market your impact and results vs. your programs and services?
Jan. 30, 2013 — Do you think of your employees, former employees, donors, clients, board members, or grantors as a liability risk?
Feb. 27, 2013 — Is an endowment a key to your organization’s long-term success?
March 27, 2013 — Where are you in the life cycle of your nonprofit organization?
April 24, 2013 — Are you positioning your board for strategic leadership?
May 29, 2013 — Is the relationship between your board and staff helping or hindering your organization’s success?
June 26, 2013 — Who are your partners and how can working together strengthen your mission?
Discussions are at the Burpee Center at Rockford College, 5050 E. State St., Rockford. Cost is free for NICNE members and $15 for non-members.
