LOVES PARK, Ill. — Paddle and Trail and Be Active Outdoors are hosting the “Paddle, Pedal and Pints” fund-raiser in Rockford Oct. 20, and also in Aurora, Ill., and Beloit, Wis., Oct. 27. These events will benefit developments of bike paths or bike programs in each community.
Paddle and Trail and Be Active Outdoors support community initiatives to get more people active in the outdoors and provide greater access to outdoor activities.
A portion of the proceeds from the Rockford Paddle, Pedal and Pint event will go to a Rockford Park District Foundation fund designated for improving biking trails and also to provide bike racks in downtown Rockford.
The Aurora and Beloit events will benefit a community initiative by Be Active Outdoors to establish a Surrey Bike Rental Program in the city center and riverfront of both communities.
Paddle, Pedal and Pints is a fun, non-competitive event for all abilities that includes a 2.5-mile paddle on the Rock River, a 6- or 11-mile bike ride, and with end with social time at Vintage@501, 501 E. State St., Rockford. Price to participate is $40 per person or $70 for a two-person team. Registration includes kayak or canoe rental with life jacket and paddle. Bikes must be provided by participants or may be rented by arrangement with Paddle and Trail.
