Rockford’s Bar 3 gets ghoulish for Oct. 20 Halloween party

Online Staff Report

Halloween is almost here, and in celebration, Bar 3 of Rockford is hosting a delightfully wicked night showcasing a frightfully fun night of gothic and industrial music. The unique DJ Halloween Spooktacular will be from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at Bar 3, 326 E. State St.

DJs Nof and Deadhaus will be on hand to play terrifying tunes, spooky sounds, graveyard classics and the latest arrivals at the musical morgue. Visit the full bar to try one of the night’s special haunted cocktails (and free candy, while it lasts).

Without a doubt, Halloween is my favorite holiday,” said DJ Nof. “It’s one of the few holidays that’s not based on religion or government, but rather it’s a cultural holiday that evolved from many traditions.”

DJ Deadhaus added: “For us, the build-up to Halloween is so exciting! Halloween is just plain fun … costumes, decorations, horror movies and haunted houses. We typically have a great crowd of folks in gothic, fetish and even steampunk garb, and we expect that will be majorly amplified for the Halloween party!”

The two DJs have carved out a dark, gothic niche in Rockford’s nightlife scene with their local events, “Ritual Control.” The evening will consist of a special Halloween mix of dark dance music, gothic and industrial tracks late into the night. They also welcome requests consistent with the holiday theme. Dressing in costume for the event is optional but absolutely encouraged.

Bar 3 is in one of the oldest buildings in downtown Rockford and has been hosting live shows, parties and concerts since 2007.

For more information, visit or join the Ritual Control event on Facebook. Cover charge for the Oct. 20 event is $5, ages 21 and older only.
