East Troy Electric Railroad offers ‘Tracks & Treats’ Oct. 27-28

EAST TROY, Wis. — The East Troy Electric Railroad will host “Tracks & Treats” during Halloween weekend, a celebration of the hallowed holiday featuring costumed train operators, conductors and depot personnel. Children visiting the railroad will also receive treats from their haunted hosts.

Tracks & Treats will be Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28. The normal daily fall schedule will be in place, offering hourly departures from the devilish East Troy depot beginning at 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.

Tracks & Treats, like all East Troy Electric Railroad special events, are included in the daily unlimited ride fare: $12.50 for adults; $10.50 for seniors; $8 for children ages 3-11; and free for children younger than 3.

Tracks & Treats marks the end of the 2012 regular operating season at the railroad. The final special event of the year will be the holiday Christmas Express trains running the rails Dec. 1-2 and Dec. 8-9.

We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of ghosts and goblins during Tracks & Treats,” said Chuck Damaske, president of the East Troy Electric Railroad. “We’re pleased to offer an event that children of all ages will find fun and informative, as well as offering the chance to see the last of the fall colors aboard a rail treasure. Tracks & Treats is sure to place an exclamation mark on a terrific season.”

In East Troy, Wis., about an hour north of Rockford, the East Troy Electric Railroad operates 10-mile round-trip excursions from its historic depot and museum to the turn-of-the-century-styled terminal at the renowned Elegant Farmer in Mukwonago, Wis. The railroad and adjoining museum are home to more than 20 rail treasures, including open cars, locomotives, streetcars and interurban coaches. The railroad also operates the only electric interurban dining car train in North America, recreating the luxury of a bygone era.
