Boyfriend of victim charged with Oct. 10 Belden Street murder

Kurt Knutson, 36, of Rockford, faces four counts of murder in the beating death of his girlfriend, 27-year-old Samantha Ann Therriault, who was found dead early Oct. 10 in her residence in the 2300 block of Belden Street in Rockford.

Knutson was booked into the Winnebago County Jail the night of Oct. 10 on a charge of possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was being held on a $200,000 bond when he was served his copy of the murder complaint while in jail. He was scheduled to appear in court on the murder charges at 9 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25.

An autopsy showed Therriault suffered blunt force trauma, and a complaint filed in the Winnebago County Courthouse showed she was beaten and strangled.
