Doubles disc golf tournament Oct. 28 at Anna Page Park

Online Staff Report

GRABM (Greater Rockford Area Bush Masters), Rockford’s original disc golf club, will present the 2012 Halloween Havoc, a bring-your-own-partner doubles tournament Sunday, Oct. 28, at Anna Page Park, 3102 N. Springfield Ave., Rockford.

All skill levels are welcome, from amateurs and juniors to professional disc golfers.

The tournament is an opportunity for first-time or beginner tourney players, as you’re paired up with a friend instead of a random foursome, and players will utilize “best shot doubles” rules, meaning both players throw, then both take their next shot from the better of the two lies.

Players are encouraged to wear costumes. If you don’t have a partner, just show up and you’ll be paired with another single player.

Sign-in is from 8 to 9 a.m., players’ meeting will be at 9:15 a.m., and disc golfers will tee off at 9:30 a.m.

The tournament will consist of two rounds of 20-plus holes played over both East and West courses, some of northern Illinois‘ oldest and most challenging courses. Prizes, discs and trophies will be awarded for each division.

Prices per team are $60 for the open, $50 for advanced, $40 for intermediate and $30 for recreational. Optional prices are $2 for the ace competition and $2 for the closest to pin competition.
