Trick-or-treating in the city of Rockford will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Not sure what to do with your jack-o’-lantern with the face that’s starting to cave in? Take your pumpkin to Rockford’s Discovery Center Museum from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, for the annual “Smashing Pumpkins” event. Send your jack-o’-lantern flying through the air with the museum’s trebuchet, a counterweight catapult used in medieval times; create a miniature catapult and learn how to lob; and take part in various fall arts and crafts activities.
