I will definitely be voting no! The public needs to know the waste of money going on with the dist. Company cars provided to the director of transportation and the safety officer along with free gas are just 2 small examples. These two individuals can drive to work on their own dime like everybody else has to. Administration and principals and vice principals at six figure salaries in a 10.00 an hour city like Rockford is unrealistic. The taxpayers of Rockford need to make a stand, this city is operating like a corporation and making decisions behind closed doors, enough is enough! The school dist. needs to make pay cuts starting with the higher up's, stop providing company car's and trim the administration personnel. That would be a fine start to a new beginning.

Great letter John. I too will not support this huge tax increase. By voting "No", taxpayers will finally see significant reductions in their real estate bills.

I will be voting "NO". Our taxes are outrageous. I and the rest of the 205 taxpayers have been paying through the nose since 1989, yet our school system REMAINS one of the worst in Illinois (Schooldigger.com places 205 in the BOTTOM 5%).

No amount of money will fix this mess.

First, taxes. Here's an analogy. I have a friend in an Indianapolis suburb who lives in a comparable house, in a comparable neighborhood, with schools that are ranked outstanding. He pays 25% of what I pay in Property taxes. He gets way more and I get way less, and Rockford liberals think I will vote to continue paying outrageous tax rates????

Since 1989, despite the millions and millions of dollarws that we have dumped into 205, almost nothing trickled down to the students (theres that bottom 5% again!). However, teachers and administrators always seem to get their pay raises.

For everyone out there who is NOT a state employee, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU GOT A RAISE???

Vote NO!
