“How to Have a Safe Thanksgiving Dinner” will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at JustGoods, 201 Seventh St., Rockford.
The Rev. Richard Wood will address the industrialization of farm products and show how some of our farmers, organic enthusiasts and environmentalists have banded together to support the humane treatment of farm animals, which provides a safer and healthier product.
Local organic farmer Kathy Spataro McGinty, of Open Range Products in Pecatonia, Ill., will talk about her 12 years as a local producer and one of the few women farmers in the area. She produces chickens, geese, ducks, lamb, beef, and pork.
