Locals to be honored for philanthropy
In recognition of National Philanthropy Day, each year the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) honors individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy, their communities and the world.
This year’s winners will be honored from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon at Forest Hills Country Club. Cost to attend the luncheon is $40 or $350 for a table of 10. Register online at www.afprockford.org or send payment to: Izzy Burke, Rockford College, 5050 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108; phone (815) 394-3756; or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
2012 AFP Rockford Chapter NPD Award recipients are Edward and Mary Ann Rounds, Outstanding Philanthropist; PIT (Peer Intervention Team) Crew/North Boone High School, Presidential Youth Service Award; BMO Harris Bank, Outstanding Corporation; Elizabeth “Betty” Willard, Fundraising Volunteer; Bob McLaughlin, Community Service Volunteer; and Riley Kegley, Future Philanthropist.
The Rockford Chapter of the AFP celebrates National Philanthropy Day each November to recognize the strength of the local philanthropic community. The purpose is very simple — a heartfelt thank you! National Philanthropy Day recognizes how the smallest efforts can make the biggest differences. It’s possible to change the world one person at a time.
The Rockford Area Chapter of AFP has 62 members representing not-for-profit organizations in the areas of education, social services, environment, arts and community organizations and religions. The chapter is part of an international organization that has been the standard bearer for professionalism in fund-raising for more than 50 years. AFP represents more than 30,000 members in 200 chapters throughout the world.
