Park District Foundation holds ‘A Tribute to Veterans’ Nov. 9 in Loves Park

The Rockford Park District Foundation will host “A Tribute to Veterans” at 10 a.m., Nov. 9. The main part of the program takes place at Loves Park City Hall auditorium, 100 Heart Blvd., Loves Park, Ill.
Keynote speaker will be Earl Dotson Jr., chief of Communications & Empowerment for the Rockford Public School District, who is also a United States Navy Desert Storm veteran.
Master of Ceremonies will be Laura Gibbs-Green, public relations and new media manager for the Rockford Park District, and program chairman is Lisa Alexander, donor relations coordinator, Rockford Park District Foundation. The public is welcome to attend.
The event will include Presentation of Colors and 3-Shot Rifle Volley by VFW Post 9759 and U.S. Marine Corps League.
Music will be provided by the Machesney Park Harlem High School Wind Ensemble, and the singing of “God Bless America” will be led by Harlem High School Choraleers and Wind Ensemble.
At the end of the program, everyone will be asked to adjourn to the Field of Honor Veterans Memorial, just north of Loves Park City Hall, for a short wreath-laying ceremony.
