Female body found in Rock River near Byron, Ill.

BYRON, Ill. — A female body has been found in the Rock River near the intersection of Route 2 and Townline Road, south of Byron, Ill.

Authorities have said it could take up to a day to identify the woman. An off-duty firefighter reportedly spotted the body around 1 p.m., Nov. 9.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10. Detectives have said they did not see any obvious signs of trauma, although they believe the woman’s body had been in the water for some time as she was covered in weeds and algae.
