Second of three suspects in May 22 murder of teen at Auburn Street BP in custody

Rico Jefferson, 22, one of three men charged with the May 22 killing of a Rockford teen at the Auburn Street BP, has been arrested.

Jefferson was taken into custody around 3:15 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at a residence in the 900 block of West Street.

Rico Jefferson, Martell Buckley, 25, and Russell Jefferson, 24, are all charged with shooting Dwayne C. Buchanan multiple times around 8 p.m., May 22.

Buckley was already in the Winnebago County Jail on an unrelated weapons charge. He was served his copy of the complaints while in jail, and has pleaded not guilty.
