Police respond to shots fired at Anderson and Johnston, find crashed abandoned vehicle with rear window shot out

Rockford Police responded to the intersection of Anderson Street and Johnston Avenue Tuesday, Nov. 12, in response to reports of five shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found a beige 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with Wisconsin license plates that had collided with a stop sign and fire hydrant at the intersection. The rear window had been shot out. No occupants were inside the vehicle, and no shell casings were found in the area of the vehicle.

A caller reportedly told police a male about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a stocky build and wearing a red hat, black sweatshirt and gray pants was seen walking from the area. The man was last seen heading north on Henrietta.

It is unknown if anyone was injured in the incident.
