‘A Local Holiday Market’ at Rockford College Regents Center Dec. 8
“A Local Holiday Market 2012” is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at Rockford College Regents Center, 5050 E. State St. Admission and parking are free, and all ages are welcome to attend. The venue is handicapped accessible.
Presented by Winnebago Buy Local and sponsored by Photobooth Rockford, Cherry Valley Landscape Center and Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, visitors will get to experience a holiday-themed shopping market filled with only locally-owned businesses. Support and shop at your local businesses this holiday, all in one spot.
“Winnebago County is latching onto the great idea of ‘shopping local,’ so we decided to once again this year bring a bunch of local businesses into one place for one day and let the folks in our community support their local businesses in a very big way!” said Lauren Davis, director of Winnebago Buy Local. “Last year’s market had over 20 businesses with hundreds of shoppers — we are expecting the same — or more — for this year’s 30-plus businesses. It will be a lot of fun for all!”
Businesses at A Local Holiday Market 2012 are only local, unique, non-franchised, non-independent representative-driven businesses. By supporting businesses such as these, up to 68 cents of every dollar spent with them stays in the local economy, which is significantly more than if one buys from other types of businesses.
Supporting locally-owned businesses such as these allows a community to retain more of its wealth while becoming a unique place to live, work and visit.
Winnebago Buy Local, a not-for-profit group based in Rockford, supports locally-owned, non-franchised businesses such as these for the benefit of the region.
